We are open to filling this role REMOTELY or at any of our physical office locations (Madison, WI; Chicago, IL; Eden Prairie, MN; Des Moines / Cedar Rapids, IA; Denver, CO; or Scottsdale, AZ). 


Some travel to company offices in the upper Midwest will be necessary and frequency will depend on “home office” location. 


Our internal audit team is responsible for partnering with the TDS family of companies to assist with and lead challenging and complex enterprise-wide audit projects.  The Lead IT Auditor position provides an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to various business and industry-specific processes, while interacting with and making an impact at all levels throughout the organization. 


The Lead IT Auditor responsibilities include:

  • Driving the execution of the IT SOX Program to determine if appropriate internal controls have been implemented across the system development lifecycle (SDLC), information technology general controls (ITGCs), and application controls.
  • Overseeing the IT SOX auditing process to determine if all controls are operating effectively to ensure the accuracy of financial statements and the requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) are being met.
  • Championing the IT SOX audit program and ensuring the effectiveness and integrity of the program in close partnership and consultation with leadership.  
  • Executing the strategic roadmap for IT SOX audit through evaluation of technical aspects of systems, databases, processes, and controls through various audit methods.  
  • Evaluating new and upgraded systems and tools and supporting business processes to ensure they are operationally effective and compliant with the regulatory framework, and mentors/trains other IT auditors.
  • Leading Staff and Senior Auditors who execute ITGC and application control.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems (IT), Accounting or other related field -OR- equivalent combination of technical and functional experience
  • 5+ years experience conducting Information Technology audits or assessments including conducting interviews, evaluating internal controls and communicating results (including work papers and audit report writing)
  • 2+ years SOX experience or other relevant framework experience
  • CISA, CISM, CISSP, CIA or other relevant certification or the willingness to pursue certification within the first year of employment

Other Qualifications:

  • Understanding of IT audit standards and frameworks (e.g., COBIT, ISO/IEC 27002, NIST) and data security and privacy regulations (e.g., PCI, CPNI, CCPA, HIPAA)
  • Working knowledge of IT General Controls in a variety of environments
  • Working knowledge of relevant technologies (e.g. SAP, Oracle, MS SQL databases, Windows and UNIX/LINUX platforms, Cloud computing, voice and data networks and tools such as Ansible, Splunk, or Kibana)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to interact effectively at all levels within and outside the organization
  • Adept at assessing complex IT and business process environments to identify potential IT, financial, operational, and compliance risks
  • Excellent process facilitation, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and follow up skills including the ability to handle and adjust to competing priorities to meet deadlines and commitments
  • Experience with large public accounting firms or corporate internal audit team a plus
