Accounting & Reporting Intern

Job Locations US-Remote Location | TBD-TBD-TBD | US-WI-Madison


As an Accounting and Reporting Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn valuable technical accounting research and formal documentation skills that could be readily applied in any future business endeavor.


Location:  This intern can work remotely during the academic year and then ideally be able to work a hybrid schedule (2 days a week in office) during the summer months in our Madison, WI location.  Fully remote options may also be considered.


Start Date:  The target start date for this internship will be March 1, 2023 and run through the summer of 2023.  There may be an opportunity to stay on through the Fall of 2023 depending on course schedule and business needs.


Schedule:  This internship will require at 12-15 hours per week during the academic year and 40 hours per week in the summer during our core business hours of Monday-Friday 7:45am-4:30pm CT. 


  • Performing technical analysis of significant contracts and non-recurring accounting transactions
  • Conducting accounting research and providing documentation to business unit accountants
  • Accounting for spectrum license sales and purchases
  • Evaluating assets such as goodwill, licenses, and equity method investments for impairment
  • Assisting with Quarter-end SEC 10-Q or 10-K preparation and filing process
  • Assisting with month-end close processes
  • Other project work as needed (i.e. tax accounting, the Annual Finance and IT Summit)


Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Completion of Intermediate Accounting course

Other Qualifications

  • Completed coursework in financial reporting and business writing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with sound decision making
  • High sense of ownership over assigned responsibilities
  • General understanding of U.S GAAP desirable 
  • Ability to work both independently and on team assignments
