Overview

TDS, a Fortune 1000 national technology and communications company, has a great opportunity for two Business Intelligence (BI) Interns.  One internship will focus on data analysis and report / dashboard development for functional areas of the business and the other internship will focus on data modeling and architecture including ETL (extract, transform, and load) and SQL scripting.  Both roles will perform requirements gathering, data visualization projects and potentially predictive modeling.

 

This internship provides the unique opportunity to learn about the inter-workings of a large IT organization, along with offering the ability to participate in job shadows, community volunteerism, and associate resource groups (ARG’s) - a student favorite being the Intern Associate Resource Group (ARG). The Intern ARG provides networking opportunities and exposure to Enterprise senior leaders. Duration and Work Schedule

We are seeking individuals who can start part-time in Feb (appx. 12-20 hours / week), work 40 hours / week this summer AND continue part-time through year end 2023. Start and end dates are flexible and may change based on when actual hiring occurs.

 

Location

This position can work remotely in any of the states in which TDS Inc. operates.  And, depending on location, we are also open to an in-office or a hybrid work model.

Responsibilities

What opportunities does this internship offer?

 

As a Business Intelligence Intern, you will be mentored by subject matter experts on responsibilities related to, dependent on role, the technical or functional side of our work.

 

This position will help develop and support BI solutions in partnership with our customers. The BI Intern will support a broad base of internal customers ranging from accounting to engineering to shared services, and more.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in information systems, computer science, programming, data science, data analytics or related field
  • Two or more semesters of related technology coursework

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Exposure to, or knowledge of, ERP Systems, SAP a strong plus
  • Exposure to, or knowledge of, visualization software or tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau a plus
  • Ability to research current and emerging information technologies
  • Basic knowledge of software development life cycle
  • Knowledge of Relational Database Management System concepts and SQL
  • Proficiency with MS Excel; SharePoint and Access knowledge a plus
  • Strong technical aptitude, initiative, creativity, and excellent customer service skills
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and critical thinking
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication
  • Ability to plan and organize multiple tasks
  • Solid work ethic and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and on team assignments
  • Assertive, proactive, and seeks work and clarification on issues/concerns that arise
  • Self-motivated with the ability to act independently and demonstrate sound judgment
  • Dependable, accountable, responsive, and committed to follow-through activities
