We prefer this position work a hybrid schedule from our Madison, WI office.  However, remote work in the states in which TDS Inc. operates may also be considered. 

Responsibilities

TDS has a complex structure with multiple entities and multi-jurisdictional tax filing requirements. The Income Tax Accountant assists in ensuring compliance with tax requirements by preparing tax related documentation and related outputs while executing and improving tax related processes.  

 

The Income Tax Accountant is responsible for:

  • Preparing federal and state corporate and partnership tax returns and supporting workpapers including maintaining tax basis fixed assets, determining nexus and apportionment and maintaining tax basis records for the TDS/UScellular family of companies which includes both returns that are filed on a separate company basis and those that are filed on a consolidated, combined or unitary basis.
  • Assisting with year-end tax provisions and tax research.
  • Calculating federal and state estimated quarterly tax payments.
  • Executing special projects affecting income tax reporting.
  • Assisting with developing and implementing income tax savings strategies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) -OR- equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and experience of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Other Qualifications:

  • CPA or CPA eligible with the intent to pursue certification
  • 6+ months tax and/or accounting experience and/or a relevant internship a strong plus
  • Knowledge of federal and state tax concepts
  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Experience using MS Power Tools, SAP/ERP and/or knowledge of telecommunications industry a strong plus
  • Developing skills in influencing and involving others in the decision-making process
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate in a range of methods (written, verbal, and formal presentation)
  • Achievement orientation demonstrated by solid judgment, high performance and achievement of target results 

This position has an annualized rate of pay that may range from $55,700-75,000 year based on a number of factors which may include position level, internal equity and market location, and may also vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Associates are also eligible for a potential annual performance award (bonus), based on annual individual and company performance.
