Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The primary function of this position is to operate and support equipment within the Wide Format Department. This position requires strong computer and technical skills as outlined below. The position works closely with fellow team members in Wide Format to ensure the best product possible is delivered. The position may also serve as a technical liaison with our sales and marketing staff.

 

Key Results Areas (KRAs)

1: Deliver quality products

 

  • Perform various finishing operations such as routing, sewing, welding, laminating, cutting, and other hand finishing operations
  • Load and unload specified media, both flat and roll fed substrates
  • Set up and operate wide format printers
  • Manage files and settings on the printer
  • Inspect and perform post and preprocesses to ensure quality at the source
  • Follow department procedures including QC checklists
  • Accurately record your time and materials
  • Be part of the team resolving quality issues in the department
  • Participate in quality audits for the department
  • Assist with internal and external questions/problems to provide solutions for customers
  • Report non-conforming materials for the department

 

2: Ensure efficient processes

  • Work to meet or beat estimated standards
  • Participate in daily shift turnover meetings
  • Communicate, collaborate and share knowledge with all team members
  • Provide feedback on consumables for all devices
  • Develop ways to improve efficiencies and throughput
  • Track and log items and repairs

 

3: Actively engage in Continuous Improvement (CI)

  • Collaborate with employees to develop and improve processes
  • Participate in CAPA (corrective action preventative action) activities in the department
  • Be part of an agile workforce that creates depth in all major cost centers
  • Brainstorm and unveil CI (continuous improvement) opportunities
  • Reduce waste, including rework, by attacking the eight wastes
  • Maintain a clean and orderly 5S work area
  • Continuously focus on expanding knowledge

Qualifications

Skills & Educational Requirements: 

  • Excellent computer skills
  • Must understand and be able to work within a .pdf workflow, including using Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to plan and create imposition layouts to best utilize the printer
  • Previous experience creating impositions highly desired
  • Ability to understand color management and color matching
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative with the printer output settings to maximize the output
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Intermediate math skills
  • Must have a creative approach to provide product finishing solutions
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment
  • Ability to work well with co-workers in a team environment
  • Ability to operate computer based technology

  • Constantly stand and move around
  • Manual dexterity
  • Frequently lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
